Choosing the right Sixth Form is a pivotal step in shaping your future—and at Prince William School, we are proud to offer a flexible and personalised approach to post-16 education.

Our admissions process is designed to support students in selecting the subjects that best suit their interests, strengths, and aspirations. With a wide range of A-level and enrichment options available, students are encouraged to build a programme of study that reflects their individual goals.

There are no fixed subject blocks, giving students the freedom to choose any combination of subjects that works for them. This flexibility allows for unique pairings and interdisciplinary learning, preparing students for a broad range of university courses and careers.

A level courses are run dependent on viable numbers. Subjects attracting small numbers will be reviewed. Contact time may be reduced, Year 12 and Year 13 lessons timetabled concurrently, or the subject withdrawn to ensure viability. While we offer lots of subjects, not all combinations are possible. Where combinations are not possible applicants will be informed before receiving their offer letter at the end of March.

Entry requirements

All students must attain five or more grade 5s (or equivalent) at Key Stage 4 in addition to at least a grade 4 in both English (Language or Literature) and Maths.

Some subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Physics and English Literature) require students to have attained at least a grade 6 in their subject at Key Stage 4. Further Maths requires students to have attained at least a level 8 at GCSE. Psychology requires students to have achieved at least a grade 6 in Maths. Please see the Prospectus section of the website for more information about individual subjects.

Students may take additional qualifications (e.g the Extended Project Qualification) but all students must follow a minimum number of three subjects.

If a student wishes to change a subject to be studied after the application deadline of the 12th January 2026, this will only be possible if a space is available in that subject.

Places will be allocated to:

1. Students from Prince William School who meet the entry requirements stated above.
2. Up to 30 students from other schools who meet the entry requirements. Should there be more than 30 external applicants who meet the criteria the following over-subscription criteria will be used to determine places:

Over-subscription criteria (for external students only)

1. Looked after children (LAC) and previously looked after children.
2. Sibling Link – where a brother or sister, living at the same address, are on roll and attending the school on the closing date for applications (12th January 2026)
3. Children of staff employed at Prince William School: a) where the member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made, and/or b) the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
4. Those who live nearest to Prince William School.  North Northamptonshire County Council’s GIS system will be used to determine the distance of the applicant’s permanent home to Prince William School

If there are places available on courses the school may consider admitting over the stated admission number of 30 students.

Late applications

Any applications received after the deadline of midnight on Monday 12th January 2026, will be treated as a late application.  Applications received by the deadline will be considered before a late application.  However, late applications will be placed on a waiting list and informed after 12 noon the day after results day if a place is available.

Accepting your sixth form place 

Offers of places 

We aim to inform all applicants who have applied before the deadline of midnight on Monday 12th January 2026, of the outcome of their application by the end of March 2026.  Offers of places will be conditional on students gaining the necessary grades for the courses they have selected.

Offer Holders Day 

Students who have been offered a conditional place in the sixth form will be invited to an Offer Holders Day on Tuesday 30th June 2026.  This will give potential students the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the sixth form facilities, take part in some subject taster lessons and enjoy a sixth form social event at the end of the day.

Enrolment 

Both internal and external students who have achieved the required grades for their conditional offer and want to take up their place in the sixth form must complete their enrolment either on KS4 results day (Thursday 20th August 2026) or by 12pm the following day (Friday 21st August 2026).  This can be done in person or by emailing Zoe.Lewis@pws.emat.uk. External candidates must also hand in or email a copy of their results when accepting their place.

Places not accepted by the deadline of 12pm on Friday 21st August 2026 will automatically be offered to applicants on the waiting list.

Appeals

Appeals on or after Key Stage 4 results day

Stage 1: If an applicant believes that they have had their offer of a place at the Sixth Form unfairly withdrawn because of their Key Stage 4 results, they should speak to the Head of Sixth Form on the results day.

Stage 2: If that conversation does not resolve the matter, they should write to the Headteacher setting out why they think this admissions policy has not been applied fairly to them. It is not sufficient to argue that the student should have performed better in their exams, or that they are only a mark or two away from the next grade. The Headteacher will only consider cases where there are grounds to investigate that the procedures set out in this policy have not been followed correctly and fairly. The Headteacher will respond to the appeal letter within 5 working days of receiving it.

Stage 3: Should you remain dissatisfied with the Head Teacher response, an admissions appeal should be submitted to the Warwickshire School Admission Team.
